7 tips to dealing with anxiety at work
World Mental Health Day 2024 is an annual event where
there is an opportunity for the world to focus on achieving good mental health.
The 2024 Mental Health Awareness Theme is #nomindleftbehind.
Together we can build a better future for us all and make sure that no one has to struggle alone.
Anxiety is one of the most common mental health problems we can face, and this can impact us in our day-to-day working life.
QMP has provided some helpful tips on dealing with anxiety at work.
TALK TO A TRUSTED COLLEAGUE
It’s good to talk! It could help to reduce anxiety about a panic attack in the workplace if someone you work with understands your condition.
SPOT THE SIGNS
Do you know the symptoms that can trigger your anxiety? Do you know what to do when your anxiety strikes at work? Learn to recognise the signs.
LEAVE WORK AT WORK!
Stop working when you shut that laptop! Don’t take work home with you and avoid checking emails or voicemails away from the office.
A TIDY DESK IS A TIDY MIND
Keep organised and tidy. Clear up that desk, it may seem like an unimportant task but it can help you to keep a clear head if a crisis occurs later.
KEEP FIT AND HEALTHY
Keep your body in tip-top condition! Eating well, sleeping well and staying active will help your body and mind to better handle tough situations.
TAKE A BREAK
Get away from your screen when it gets a little too much. Have a rest, go for a quick walk and clear your head.
ASK FOR SUPPORT
Don’t let work get on top of you if you are struggling. Speak to someone and ask for help, if you don’t speak up, your colleagues won’t know you need support.
